Pregnancy Decision-making & Post-abortion Support

Compassionate, non-directive support in Elwood (Melbourne) and online across Victoria.

Considering a pregnancy can bring up many different thoughts and emotions. You might feel certain about your decision, completely unsure, or find your feelings changing from one day to the next. Whatever you're experiencing, you deserve a space where you can talk openly without judgement, pressure or assumptions.

I provide non-directive pregnancy options counselling for adults who are navigating a pregnancy decision, as well as ongoing psychological support before or after an abortion. My role isn't to tell you what to do, but to help you explore your thoughts, values, emotions and circumstances so you can make the decision that feels right for you.

Whether you're seeking support early in your decision-making, after an abortion, or simply looking for someone to talk to, therapy offers a confidential and compassionate space to process your experience at your own pace.

What is non-directive pregnancy options counselling?

Non-directive pregnancy options counselling is a specialised form of counselling that supports people facing an unplanned or complex pregnancy.

Rather than offering advice or encouraging a particular outcome, a psychologist helps you explore your options in a way that is respectful, balanced and centred on your own values and circumstances.

You might be considering:

  • continuing a pregnancy

  • abortion

  • adoption or other care arrangements

  • how to navigate a difficult or unexpected pregnancy

  • conversations with your partner or family

  • practical, emotional or relationship concerns that are affecting your decision.

Whatever your circumstances, you remain in control of the decisions you make.

Support after abortion

People respond to abortion in many different ways.

Some feel relief. Others experience sadness, grief, uncertainty, anger, guilt or mixed emotions. Many people experience several emotions at once. There is no "right" way to feel.

If you're finding your experience difficult to process, therapy can provide space to:

  • understand and make sense of your emotions

  • process grief or loss

  • work through trauma where the experience has been distressing

  • navigate relationship changes

  • address anxiety or depression that may have developed or intensified

  • reconnect with your own values and sense of self.

If you already have a history of trauma, pregnancy loss, anxiety or other mental health concerns, these experiences can sometimes become more activated during this time. Therapy can help you work through these experiences with care and compassion.

My approach

My approach is warm, trauma-informed and non-judgemental.

I understand that every person's circumstances are different. My aim is to create a space where you feel safe to speak honestly, ask difficult questions and make decisions that align with your own values.

Alongside non-directive pregnancy options counselling, I'm also:

If longer-term support would be helpful, we can continue working together beyond the initial pregnancy counselling sessions.

Medicare rebates

Eligible clients may be able to access Medicare rebates for up to three non-directive pregnancy counselling sessions with an appropriate referral under the Medicare Benefits Schedule.

If you're unsure whether you're eligible, I'm happy to discuss this with you before booking, or you can speak with your GP.

Please note that gap fees apply.
